Technology is cool!If you're in the market for a new vehicle, why not get one that can act as a back up power supply for your house?-its cheaper than a Tesla Powerwall or similar product-its cheaper than a natural gas generator-it benefits from time of use pricing (charge with cheap power and use its battery when power is expensive) There's pros and cons to everything.I can't wait to get one installed in my next house!

They are workhorses but also create an uncomfortable indoor living environment.If you like to leave the windows open on a cold day or have wall to wall sliding patio doors and like to keep them open while entertaining and then expect the temperature in the house to be at a comfortable level very quickly then heat pumps aren’t for you. You’ll need a workhorse.Heat pumps provide consistent, even temperatures (not huge fluctuations or jolts of very hot air coming from supply registers).Some of the ways we DESIGN and BUILD our houses to be comfortable and efficient:-installing exterior insulation (basically putting a winter coat around your house)-seal the envelope as air tight as possible-use energy efficient windows (usually triple pane with low solar heat gain) -and an ERV to recover the energy and ventilate the house in a controlled mannerA recent house we completed had an Energuide rating of 63 GJ/year.This house is approximately 3200 SF, 2 storeys and located in North York.We will provide an update after one year with the actuals and compare to the projected rating.Be aware, living habits affect the consumption too.How much energy did your house consume in 2023?
