Daniel "Danny" Fenton / Danny Phantom is the series' titular protagonist. Danny is a fourteen-year-old boy who gains ghost powers in a lab accident when he steps into and activates his parents' Ghost Portal. Now a human-ghost hybrid, he chooses to use his powers to fight against malevolent scary ghosts who have begun to regularly escape the mysterious Ghost Zone and plague his hometown of Amity Park.^[1] A rather unpopular student in high school along with his friends, Danny also faces the typical hardships of living a normal teenager's life, but with the additional challenges of protecting Amity Park from frequent ghost attacks, learning to control his ghost powers, and maintaining his secret identity as "Danny Phantom." An ongoing story arc is his struggle to use his powers for the benefit of others rather than abuse them for his own needs, though he ultimately makes the right decision with the help of his friends. Despite frequently struggling with self-confidence, Danny values his altruism and comes to appreciate his own self-worth.^[2][3][4]

History[]

After becoming a half-human/half-ghost during a lab accident, Danny has taken on the role of a ghostly superhero to protect Amity Park and the world from the dangerous ghosts from the Ghost Zone. Danny is the son of Jack and Maddie Fenton and the brother of Jazz Fenton. His primary goal is to save the citizens of Amity Park from the dangerous ghosts coming through the Fenton Portal which his parents created.

Physical appearance[]

Danny is shown to be short for his age. He has two different forms of appearance. As a human, his face structure and facial texture is similar to that of his mother Maddie Fenton. However, his hair and eyes resemble those of his father Jack Fenton. As a ghost, Danny still keeps most of his his mother's physical features. However, his eyes change from his father's icy blue to a ghostly green color, and his hair also turns into a grayish-white colour.

Personality[]

At first, Danny was an average teenage boy attending high school, awkward and nervous but friendly. Like most teenagers, he had crushes on girls, desires to be popular, a dislike of bullies and embarrassment from his parents. But unlike most teenagers he had ghostly superpowers. He struggled to cope with them and was afraid of anyone discovering his secret, fearing it would make him "go from geek to freak," and longed to be normal just like everyone else again. But after fighting ghosts for the first time, he realized he could use his powers for good. This newfound sense of purpose changed Danny into a heroic, brave young man.In the present, when he is not worrying about ghosts, Danny is kind, easy-going, helpful, and compassionate at times. He likes using his ghost powers for good, but, being a teenage boy, is not always above using them to get revenge on bullies or sneak out of school detention. His ghost hunting often cuts into his school work time, but he does work hard when he puts his mind on the task at hand--except when he's lazy or distracted. Although he isn't the smartest person around, but he is clever at devising plans, having good ideas and using resources, like his powers, Fenton equipment, and friends with different talents. He almost rarely gets extremely mad or emotional, only taking important matters personally like his archenemies Vlad and Dark Danny. He loves making puns and exchanging witty banter during his fights, and while there's moments when he under-appreciates his friends, he's thankful to have them.Danny has also shown distress when it comes to failure in himself to protect others. Examples of this include the deaths of his family and friends inadvertently causing him to turn evil, the moment when he believed that he had failed to protect Dani from Vlad, and the brief time when he gave up his powers after Masters' Blasters upstaged and humiliated him into thinking himself obsolete and useless.Danny also shows the traits of being a true friend. In the episode "Control Freaks," Danny is put under the control of Freakshow. While on the moving train, Sam tells Danny that his choices are either for his friends or for Freakshow. When she falls over the edge of the train into a ravine, Danny remembers Sam is his real friend. And, despite being mind controlled, chooses to save his real friend and destroys the crystal ball.

• Danny seems to have the likeness of comic book heroes from both Marvel and DC like Spider-Man (or Superman) for example.
• At first, he was meant to be named "Jackie" after Jackie Chan, but then Butch decided to name him Danny.
