All you need is a box of cake mix in your favorite flavor and add-ins to customize the gift. I’ve even got printable gift tags to complete this gift in a jar with baking instructions! Easy peasy and customized to the recipient? Yes, please!

In case the recipient is a big fan of chocolate bars, I’ve got recipes specifically for Snickers, Milky Way, and Reese’s Pieces cookies in a jar. Looking for a theme? Try out the Aloha Cookies or Candy Corn cookie mix – all gifted in mason jars!

Mason jars are great for gift giving! They hold all of the items nicely and cut down on paper bags and waste. Plus, when you give gifts in mason jars, you leave the recipient with a jar they can reuse!

Table of Contents

Two Ingredient Cookies in a Jar

Ingredients and supplies for cookie mix in a jar:

  • One box of cake mix in the flavor of your choice
  • Any other mix in(plenty of ideas below!)
  • Quart-sized mason jar with lid
  • Free gift tag
  • Ribbon for adding the gift tag

How to Assemble Cookie Mix in a Jar

To start, add the entire contents of the cake mix to the mason jar. Press down with a spoon so you have plenty of room for the add-ins!

Make sure the lip of the jar is free of any leftover cake mix. Then, fill up the remainder of the jar with any choice of mix-ins! I usually use about a cup to a cup and a half of add-ins. It really depends on the size of the ingredients.

Be sure to chop candy bars but smaller items like chocolate chips and M&Ms can be left whole.

Then, print the gift tags on card stock and use a ribbon to tie on the gift tag with the instructions!

Fabulous idea! If you are using different cake or different candy, do you follow directions for the cake mix, or are there different measurements or bake times? Thanks so much. Can’t wait to try it.

Nope! You can use the same directions and mix and match. I have used it for several different types of cookies and it works every single time.
